Forum Rules

MGS is a place where people can come to learn, network, and share the joys and trials of raising goats. We want everyone to feel welcome whether they're raising 200 goats on 200 acres or a pair of wether pets in the backyard. This is a place for you to ask the questions you're afraid to ask, or vent when it doesn't go well, or talk about the goat kid you tried to save and couldn't. Goat raising is a labor of love and we want every single member to feel comfortable asking questions and sharing their experiences.

To that end, we've created a list of rules that we would hope we don't need to ever enforce. We know that there are some amazing goat farmers out there, and for most of you, these rules will already be ingrained in your character and how you act. If you need the reminder, however, here they are. We aren't big on authoritarianism, so if we do have to actually step into a thread due to abusive language or treating others poorly, it will be handled in a hurry.

1. Don't be a jerk. Remember that we all started somewhere. If someone is asking a question that you find stupid or not worth your time, you have a choice. Either politely point them to a resource where they can find the answer, or simply keep scrolling and don't comment on the thread. We're all here to help and learn from each other.

2. This is a family-friendly board. Please keep it that way.

3. All sales posts must be confined to the Marketplace. Don't use someone's question thread as an excuse to hawk your wares.

4. This isn't a politics board. Don't make it one.

5. Remember to be kind, pay your knowledge forward, and don't be afraid to ASK what you don't know or SHARE what you do know.

Above all, be a valuable member of the community and HAVE FUN!
